Coronado's Gluten Free Pantry : Whoopie Pie

Coronado's Gluten Free Pantry is owned by Roanna Canete. Roanna, while living in Italy, studied cooking, baking, chocolate melting and making Gelato. She definitely understands quality, freshness and appearance. She has two sons. One has food allergies which is how she started her journey in baking GF. Roanna lives with her family in Coronado, California. I met Roanna in San Diego at the GF-AF Expo on February 11th. She is super kind and very knowledgable. I tried the product and researched a bit more into Coronado's GF Pantry and here's what I found!

The pros of the Pantry:
1. The product is Gluten Free, fluffy, decadent and delightful
2. Made in a home kitchen, which is awesome! It's certified GF
3 .Xanthan Gum free
4. They accomodate egg and dairy allergies
5. If you have a corn allergy, EMAIL them and they will substitute
6. Whoopie Pie specific: the taste was spongy with rich chocolate; the taste, smell and texture was perfect.

The cons of the Pantry:
1. Although they do accomodate egg and dairy allergies, cross contamination is unknown
2. The Pantry does use nuts in some of their products; it's difficult to trust that there will be no cross-contamination
3. The website doesn't mention anything about nut allergies; I found nuts on products through the website pictures
Overall, I would recommend this product if you have Celiac's and are dairy and nut intolerant. It depends on your comfort level when you have allergies due to possible cross contamination. As a mother with a daughter with life-threatening food allergies I DO NOT give her any products that are made on the same lines or in the same facility that process her allergens.

Everyone's comfort level is different, but if you are in town stop by and try them out!
